The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs visited the Republic of Uzbekistan with a working visit. Within the visit, between Foreign Ministries of two countries political consultations at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs were held. During consultations the parties discussed a present condition and the prospects of development of the relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in political, trade and economic, social and cultural and humanitarian areas and in fuel and energy complex.
During the visit the Turkmen delegation was accepted by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev. Issues of expansion of a practical cooperation between two countries, determinations of the new directions and joint implementation of the perspective projects directed to strengthening of strategic partnership were discussed at the meeting.
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan conduct active cooperation in the field of energy industry. A striking example of it is the project implementation of a gas pipeline construction Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Kazakhstan-China, put into operation in 2009.
Recently Turkmenistan invited a business community of Uzbekistan to participation in the project of the gas pipeline of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), which implementation entered a practical stage, and also to development of oil and gas fields on the shelf of the Caspian Sea.
Also Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agreed about supply of gas condensate from the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea where on the basis of the Production Sharing Agreement in the Bukhara oil refinery the Malaysian company "Petronas" works.
