Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev will approve approaches to enhancing cooperation

Today the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Azerbaijan Republic undertaken by the Turkmen leader in the invitation of the Azerbaijani colleague Ilham Aliyev begins.

During the meeting which is coming in Baku at the highest level Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev will exchange opinions on a wide range of questions of a bilateral cooperation.

As expected, much attention within negotiations will be paid to study of mechanisms of an intensification and diversification of trade and economic relations. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have powerful natural and resource potential, a number of enormous inventories of hydrocarbons, and it offers big prospects for fruitful contacts in strategically important spheres.

The geographical location of two states-neighbors also creates favorable prerequisites for effective addition of efforts in projects implementation on forming of the modern transcontinental communication corridors connecting Europe and Asia, providing optimum profitable overland and sea routes of cargo transportation, and their integration into the international logistic infrastructure.

The significant role in determination of the new directions of interaction and activization of business contacts is allocated for the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani commission on a trade and economic cooperation and also private business structures.

Hot topic for both parties – is forming of the corresponding legal framework of a five-sided cooperation on the Caspian Sea in fastest determination of legal status of which all coastal states are interested.

The great value of the country is attached to expansion of traditional humanitarian contacts, including through education, by sciences and cultures and also to interaction in the field of sport and tourism. 

Thus, the forthcoming meeting of leaders of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan following the results of which it is planned to sign a solid packet of bilateral documents, is intended to become the next step on the way of expansion of the interstate dialogue finding the increasing dynamics and efficiency.
