Today in Baku the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in a format in private took place, and then negotiations of government delegations of two countries in expanded structure were held.
Heads of two states discussed issues of interaction within the international organizations, possibilities of a growth in volumes of bilateral trade, implementation of joint energy and transport and transit projects. The parties also exchanged opinions concerning the Caspian perspective and development of partnership in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
During negotiations the Azerbaijani leader noted that today the relations of two states connected by good-neighbourhood bonds have come to new level, it is witnessed by the successful cooperation in the field of policy, economy, power.
As the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized, the main goal of the current official visit – was further strengthening of brotherly relations between two states and the people.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan support, first of all, protection and strengthening of the international and regional security and sustainable development.
The firm and sure position of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan in this key question exerts a great influence on development of a political situation in Central Asia and the basin of the Caspian Sea, the leader of our country told.
The head of Turkmenistan expressed conviction in need to expand partnership within the UN, OSCE, the Islamic Organization of the Cooperation, the CIS and other international and regional structures. Such interaction needs to be concretized, allocated as much as possible priority spheres where common diplomatic and other efforts can be involved more effectively.
Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan from now on intend to closely approve the activities in the international space, rendering each other a necessary assistance.
The President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Azerbaijan for support and co-authorship of the General Assembly resolutions adopted on the basis of the initiatives announced by Turkmenistan about a permanent neutrality, creation of the new international mechanism in the field of energy security and cooperation increase on steady transport.
Interaction in a bilateral and multilateral format acts as an important factor of transformation of the Caspian Sea into the sea of the peace, neighborliness, consent and mutually beneficial cooperation. In this regard the Turkmen leader emphasized that joint operation over the Convention on legal status of the Caspian Sea is close to completion. As expected, at another meeting of high level of heads of the Caspian states its signing will take place.
