The total amount of the gas delivered to China by the gas pipeline Central Asia – China, reached 200 billion cubic meters. The Chinese mass media report about it, referring to China National Petroleum Corporation, the Trend transfers. By calculations, the 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas are equivalent to 266 million tons of coal.
The gas pipeline Central Asia - China is the China's first transnational gas pipeline by means of which import of foreign natural gas is performed. The pipeline originates on border of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, passes through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and crosses the Chinese border through the check point Horgos located in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.
Cumulative handling capacity of the gas pipeline makes 55 billion cubic meters a year.
Supply of natural gas by the gas pipeline began at the end of 2009, and by the end of the first quarter 2017 on the A, B and C lines in total to China 174 billion 259 million cubic meters of natural gas were transported.
The gas pipeline, according to information, provides gas supply of more than 300 million residents of 27 Chinese provinces, cities of the central subordination and areas and also the Special administrative area Hong Kong. Besides, project implementation allowed to create in the countries through which territory the pipeline passes, about ten thousand workplaces.
It is noted that key suppliers of gas by gas pipelines to China are the following countries: Turkmenistan — 77 percent, Uzbekistan — 12 percent, Myanmar — 10 percent.
It is expected that the gas consumption amount in China will grow to 340 billion cubic meters in 2020, at the same time 120 billion cubic meters will be imported.
