Ashgabat supported the proposal by Tehran to solve in arbitration court the question of arrears to Iran for natural gas deliveries

Turkmenistan has supported Iran's proposal to solve the international arbitration court of the debt of the Iranian side for the supplied natural gas. This was announced in the course of conference calls meeting, which was chaired by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and members of the government on 4 December 2017.

During the meeting the State Minister – Chairman of the State concern “Turkmengas”Marat Archaev informed the President about the considerable debt to pay for Turkmen gas supplied to Iran in accordance with bilateral agreements and a contract with the National gas company of Iran.

As noted by M. Archaev, in the course of meetings and negotiations held with representatives of the Iranian side failed to reach consensus on the issues discussed.

Moreover, the Iranian partners suggested a mutually acceptable and fair solution to this problem is to appeal to international arbitration court.

After hearing the arguments of the head of the state concern "Turkmengas", Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to support the proposal of the National gas company of Iran to appeal to the international court of arbitration and to prepare the relevant documents for the upcoming procedure.
