The prospects of strengthening of bilateral economic cooperation were discussed during the ninth meeting of the Turkmen-Austrian joint commission which took place on December 5, 2017 in Ashgabat, it is reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Heads of a number of the ministries and departments, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of our country, delegation of senior representatives of government institutions and business community of Austria headed by the CEO on foreign economic relations of Federal Department of Economic Affairs, science and researches Frans Wessig participated in the meeting.
Having assessed results of work of the commission for 2017 positively and having discussed a condition of the Turkmen-Austrian goods turnover, the parties proposed on its increase. In this regard it was underlined that opening in Vienna in June, 2017 of representative office of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan would become a link between a business community of Turkmenistan and the countries of Europe and would promote expansion of a trade and economic cooperation between two countries.
During the meeting need of regular holding meetings of working groups on various directions and active participation of the interested Turkmen and Austrian business community in exhibitions, fairs and conferences held in the territories of both countries was noted.
On commission session the Turkmen side stated interest in attraction of experience and technologies of the Austrian companies for creation of the industrial and service enterprises in Turkmenistan, promotions of the Turkmen products on the markets of Austria and other countries of the European Union.
Participants of the meeting noted a significant role in development of communications of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, Federal economic chamber of Austria, the Trade mission of Embassy of Austria in Ashgabat which render direct assistance to representatives of a business community of two countries.
Among the priority directions of partnership participants of the meeting designated such spheres as power, transport and logistics, a construction and infrastructure, health care, conversion of agricultural products, tourism, education, information technologies.
Close attention was paid to implementation of ecological technologies in municipal services, to development of renewable energy resources and an energy efficiency.
Among other subjects considered at the meeting - there were the industry and mining business, state programs on import substitution and stimulation of export according to which in the country the construction of a number of the innovative entities on release of construction, chemical, household and other products on the basis of local raw materials and also on conversion and production of different types of fish products was planned.
Prospects of bilateral cooperation were offered also taking into account the projects planned in Turkmenistan in the field of the chemical industry, light industry, mechanical engineering which implementation the state assigned generally to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
Following the results of the meeting of the joint commission the final protocol was signed.
Within work of the commission the Turkmen-Austrian business forum took place and also bilateral meetings between representatives of the Austrian companies and members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and also heads of various organizations and departments of Turkmenistan were held.
