The prospects of the Turkmen-Korean cooperation discussed in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Jong Tae-In, who is completing his diplomatic mission in our country.

The Ambassador said that his country attached great importance to strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan is implementing a policy of "open doors" and a truly mutually beneficial partnership.

Stressing the high level of interstate dialogue, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the progressive dynamics of the Turkmen-Korean cooperation that is built on equitable, long-term basis.

The head of Turkmenistan and the Korean diplomat exchanged views on prospects of bilateral cooperation has a considerable potential in a variety of ways, including in trade-economic sphere, energy and transport sectors, in the field of advanced technologies in other industries.

In this regard, it was noted significant role of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission and a joint business forum to build business contacts. As a good example of an effective partnership was given the active participation of Korean companies in implementation in our country of major infrastructure projects of international importance.

Currently, LG and Hyundai in consortium with TOYO Japanese are building a gas chemical complex producing polyethylene and polypropylene in Kiyanly settlement on the shores of the Caspian sea.

In recent years, with the participation of companies Hyundai and LG have been completed construction of a plant for desulfurization of gas at the major Galkynysh field, and the project of modernization of Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries.

Ashgabat and Seoul also pays great attention to cooperation in the transport sector in the development of transit and logistics infrastructure along the East-West and North-South with access to European and middle Eastern markets.

In early April of 2017 in Ashgabat on the results of the 6th meeting of the Turkmen-Korean intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation were signed: an intergovernmental program for trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea for the years 2017-2021, a Memorandum of understanding between the Korea exchange (KRX) and stock exchange of Ashgabat on the cooperation for the opening of the stock exchange Agreement of intent to conduct a study on options for joint marketing and sales of polyethylene and polypropylene petrochemical plant in Kiyanly settlement between the state Concern "Turkmengas” and the company "LG International".
