Acting special envoy and coordinator of the US state Department on international energy Sue Saarnio in February will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan, during which will participate in the fourth meeting of the Advisory Council of the "Southern gas corridor". It was reported by the US State Department, Trend reports.
The Ministry of energy of Azerbaijan noted that the exact date of the meeting would be published in the coming days.
The first meeting of the Advisory Council of the "Southern gas corridor" was held on February 12, 2015, the second – February 29, 2016, the third on February 23, 2017.
"Southern gas corridor" is one of the priority projects for the EU and provides for the transportation of 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region via Georgia and Turkey to Europe.
At the initial stage, the gas produced within the second phase of development of Azerbaijani gas condensate field "Shah Deniz", is regarded as the main source for the projects "Southern gas corridor". At a later stage the project can be connected to other sources.
Gas within the second stage of field development will be exported to Turkey and European markets by expanding the South Caucasus gas pipeline and constructing the Trans-Anatolian and Trans-Adriatic pipelines.
