President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India in Turkmenistan Azar Abul Hassan Khan, who presented his credentials to the head of the state.
The diplomat conveyed to the Turkmen leader greetings from the President of India, Rama Natha of Govinda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who expressed readiness to intensify the Turkmen-Indian dialogue in all key areas. At the same time, it was noted that India highly appreciated and supported the peaceful policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan, which met the interests of prosperity and progress on a regional and global scale.
In turn, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan's special interest in strengthening cooperation with the States of South Asia and, in particular, with India, which was a strategic partner in the implementation of important regional projects. In this regard, the President noted that cooperation between our States was acquiring a new quality and content that met the realities of time and mutual interests.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the implementation of the project for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, designed to make a significant contribution to the sustainable socio-economic development of the Asian States and to the strengthening of global energy security.
Noting the high dynamics of the interstate dialogue, the President of Turkmenistan and the diplomat of the friendly country noted the importance of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Indian Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation. The interlocutors also noted the need to continue the practice of holding bilateral meetings at different levels, which allowed determining the priority vectors of mutually beneficial partnership.
During the meeting, the sides stressed the relevance of cooperation in such areas as energy and transport, in which Turkmenistan put forward initiatives aimed at the formation of international transit and transport corridors that provide optimal economic routes for cargo transportation.
