The President of Turkmenistan and foreign Minister of Kuwait discussed the partnership in investment, trade-economic, energy and other fields

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on an official visit to Kuwait, held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait, Minister of foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Board of governors of the Kuwait Fund for Arab economic development Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah, the state news Agency of the country reports.

As the President noted, Turkmenistan and Kuwait have successfully cooperated on a bilateral basis and in the framework of the UN and other international structures. It was highlighted that Turkmenistan highly appreciated the role and place of Kuwait in the international and regional arenas and considered it to be its important partner in the Arab world.

In turn, the Sheikh said that Kuwait attached great importance to strengthening traditional ties with Turkmenistan and to build fruitful relationships.

Issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kuwait in investment, trade and economic, energy, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as key aspects of the international agenda were touched upon during the meeting.

It was noted, in particular, that Turkmenistan and Kuwait have the largest hydrocarbon reserves in the world, which is an important factor of mutual interest in cooperation in the development and export of energy resources to international markets.

As the head of Turkmenistan noted, at present, the oil and gas industry of the country implements major projects aimed at diversifying energy exports. Among the strategic projects is the transnational TAPI gaspipeline, which is of great importance for all countries of the region.

- Recently the construction of the Afghan part of the TAPI launched, - said Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, noting that in its implementation authoritative international financial structures participate, greater support is also provided by the international community.

In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of foreign Affairs of Kuwait noted the relevance of the initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader in this field.

The head of Turkmenistan noted the readiness of the Turkmen side to establish cooperation with Kuwaiti partners and consider their mutually beneficial proposals.

Emphasizing the need for a comprehensive deepening of bilateral ties, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah also called for expanding contacts between business communities of two countries.
