The delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in the 27th annual session of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly, which was held on July 7-11, 2018 in Berlin, the website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
The annual session of the OSCE PA in 2018 was held in the German Bundestag under the theme "Implementation of OSCE commitments: the role of parliaments". The event was attended by more than 300 parliamentarians from 53 OSCE member States, dozens of international organizations and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Germany.
At the meeting, presentations were made by the President of the FRG Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble, President of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli, Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Finance of Germany Olaf Scholz and Guglielmo Pichi, Vice Minister of foreign Affairs and international cooperation of Italy, representing the Italian presidency of the OSCE.
The session traditionally took place in plenary and three committees: (1) on political and security issues, (2) on economic issues, science, technology and the environment, and (3) on democracy, human rights and humanitarian issues. The issues discussed in the committees were included in the text of the final resolution of the session, which was adopted at the final plenary meeting.
On the sidelines of this session, the parliamentarians of Turkmenistan also participated in additional events and meetings of various groups.
