The shipbuilding and ship repair plant "Balkan", located in Turkmenbashi, plans to develop a tanker fleet for the transportation of oil and gas products produced in the country. This was reported during a workshop on the tasks of the shipbuilding and ship repair plant "Balkan", which was held by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a visit to the international seaport of Turkmenbashi, according to the news Agency ORIENT.
During the meeting, the types and types of ships to be built at the enterprise were identified. As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, the goals and objectives of Turkmenistan's transport policy require increasing the capabilities of the domestic fleet. The head of state was presented the planned construction of ferries for the transportation of wheeled vehicles, RO-RO, bulk carriers, tankers, emergency, rescue vessels etc. More detail about their specifications was reported at the meeting.
It was noted that taking into account the growth of production in Turkmenistan, the demand for dry cargo is increasing, which will be used for the export of domestic goods to foreign countries. The construction of emergency and rescue vessels in the country will contribute to improving security in the Caspian sea.
The plant is also planned the construction of railway ferries for shipping without the need of transshipment that would contribute to the acceleration of transit through the territory of Turkmenistan.
In order to carry out domestic sea passenger transportation, the head of state instructed to build catamarans, which, due to their advantages, can significantly increase passenger traffic in the coastal zone, for example, in such areas as Gyzylsuv, Kiyanly, etc.
