Today, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting with acting Finance Minister of Afghanistan Mohammad Homayoon Qaumi, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Afghan Commission on trade and economic cooperation. This was reported on the website of the foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties confirmed the mutual commitment of the two countries to the further intensification of the bilateral dialogue, discussed the situation in the region and priorities for the development of Turkmen-Afghan cooperation in various fields.
Among the priority topics, the parties noted the important role of interstate cooperation in trade and economic, fuel and energy, transport, cultural and humanitarian fields.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of important joint infrastructure projects, such as the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the use of the first phase of the "international Asian railway transport corridor" Kerki-Imamnazar (Turkmenistan)-Akina (Afghanistan).
The Afghan delegation also expressed its gratitude for the assistance provided by Turkmenistan in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, highly appreciating the active participation of the Turkmen state in the stabilization and establishment of a peaceful and prosperous life in the neighboring country.
The Turkmen side stressed that Turkmenistan, guided by the principles of good-neighbourliness, humanism and solidarity, intends to continue to provide practical assistance to the brotherly country.
