Prospects of cooperation between Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea discussed in Seoul

From 6 to 7 November 2018, Seoul hosted the eleventh Central Asia - Republic of Korea cooperation Forum at the level of Deputy foreign Ministers. The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the country, according to the website of the foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The forum discussed further steps to develop cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, to intensify exchanges between businessmen and to support joint business projects.

The agenda of the forum also includes issues of effective use of water resources and opportunities for cooperation in this direction. The Turkmen delegation provided information on the ongoing work to save the Aral sea. As you know, in the period of 2017-2019, Turkmenistan is the Chairman of the international Fund for saving the Aral sea.

Within the framework of the visit of the Turkmen delegation to Seoul, bilateral political consultations were also held between the foreign ministries of the two countries at the level of Deputy Ministers. During the consultations, a wide range of issues of bilateral relations were discussed.

In addition, meetings were held with the Executive Director of the Secretariat of the cooperation Forum, Mr. Kim Song Ying, and with the heads of Korean companies, as well as other official negotiations.
