Since the beginning of 2018, the export of Turkmen goods to Italy has almost tripled, while imports from Italy to Turkmenistan increased by 50%. This was stated by the Italian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ungaro, speaking at the Turkmen-Italian business forum, which was held on Thursday in Ashgabat.
According to D. Ungaro, Turkmen supplies to Italy are based on oil products with high added value, which were produced at modern plants built in Turkmenistan in recent years.
The Italian delegation at the business forum includes leading specialists of companies working in the strategic sectors of the Turkmen economy, including the fuel and energy sector, chemical and food industries, and agriculture. Among them - "Eni Turkmenistan", "Maire Tecnimont", "Nuovo Pignone", "FATA", "Kerry Logistics", "Aermec", "General Electric International", "Brunel", etc.
On the Turkmen side, the forum was attended by heads and specialists of sectoral ministries and departments, the chamber of Commerce, the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs, representatives of enterprises and companies producing export-oriented products.
As the participants of the forum noted, implementing the program of modernization of the fuel and energy complex, the most important direction of which is the diversification of production with high added value and export routes of energy carriers to world markets, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of business relations with partners from the European Union and intends to continue to actively involve major consortia, including Italian companies, in joint projects.
During the meeting, representatives of Italian companies announced their intention to expand their presence in the Turkmen market.
The forum participants identified priority areas of partnership, which were considered in the framework of separate sessions devoted to joint work in the fuel and energy sector, trade and economic sphere, transport and communication complex, agriculture and other areas.
On the same day, the chamber of Commerce and industry held bilateral meetings of Turkmen and Italian entrepreneurs.
