The Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Myratgeldi Meredov reported on the preparations for the XXIII International conference and exhibition "Oil and gas of Turkmenistan-2018", which is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat on November 20-22, at the government meeting last Friday. It is expected that this economic review will be attended by experts from many countries, including representatives of oil and gas companies, industry ministries and departments, international organizations, and the media.
The forum agenda includes a wide range of issues related to the development of the world energy market, including oil, gas and products, as well as international cooperation in this sphere.
It is planned to organize a discussion on the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.
Particular attention will be paid to attracting investments in the oil and gas industry, the introduction of innovative technologies in the search and production of hydrocarbons, the world experience in the production of environmentally friendly fuel, diversification of export routes of Turkmen natural gas, projects for the processing of natural gas and the production of gas chemical products.
Summing up the report, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that the effective use of the richest natural resources is the most important aspect of Turkmenistan's economic strategy for the near and long term. The large-scale programs and projects implemented in the country, including the diversification of the oil and gas industry, open wide opportunities for cooperation with foreign partners.
Noting the importance of the upcoming forum, designed to show the huge potential of the domestic fuel and energy complex, to become an open platform for discussing topical issues of cooperation in this field, the head of state instructed the Vice-Chairman to ensure a high organizational level of the exhibition and conference.
The head of the state ordered to keep under constant control the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, through which long-term supplies of Turkmen gas to the largest countries of South Asia will be carried out. As the President stressed, the new energy highway, as well as power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines, which will be laid along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route, are of great importance in the context of the peaceful revival of Afghanistan, the restoration of its socio-economic infrastructure, will contribute to the strengthening of peace and stability in the region.
The participants of the 17th Ministerial conference of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program held in Ashgabat the day before expressed their support for these projects. Speaking about this, the President emphasized the role of the Asian development Bank, which is one of the main partners in the TAPI project, from the very beginning takes an active part in its implementation. In particular, the supply of pipes purchased in the amount of 40 million US dollars allocated by the Saudi development Fund is currently being carried out.
