The President launched test tests at the plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Akhal region on Thursday, where he got acquainted with the state of Affairs on the construction of a large gasoline production plant from natural gas in Ovadandepe.

During the brief meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers M. Meredov reported on the work on the further development of the oil and gas complex, including the gas processing sector, increasing the production of oil and gas products, expanding its range, attracting foreign investments to the fuel and energy complex.

The Deputy Prime Minister reported that construction and installation works have been fully completed at the plant being built in Akhal region. In this regard, M. Meredov appealed to the leader of Turkmenistan to start testing the new enterprise.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that due to the huge raw materials resources, industrial and scientific potential, the fuel and energy complex occupies a leading place in the national economy. The use of the latest achievements of scientific and technological progress, advanced technologies, the most modern technology in this industry will ensure the innovative development of the domestic industry, strengthen the country's position in the world energy markets.

In this context, it was noted the importance of the construction of a unique, to date, the world's only plant for the production of environmentally friendly synthetic gasoline from natural gas, designed to significantly expand the export opportunities of Turkmenistan.

The head of the state instructed the Vice-Chairman to keep under constant control the commissioning works carried out at the enterprise, to ensure their compliance with international standards. The President also ordered to pay special attention to the training of highly qualified personnel to work at modern enterprises of the industry.

This complex is being built under the contract of the state concern "Turkmengas with the consortium of companies "Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd." (Japan) and "Rönesans Endüstri Tesisleri Inşaat Sanaýi ve Ticaret A. Ş." (Turkey.) The Agreement was signed during Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's official visit to Japan in September 2013. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in August 2014 with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan.

The gas chemical plant, equipped with the latest equipment and advanced technologies, will annually process 1 billion 785 million cubic meters of "blue fuel" and produce 600 thousand tons of gasoline a-92 (RON-92), corresponding to the environmental requirements of the Euro-5 standard, as well as 12 thousand tons of refined diesel fuel and 115 thousand tons of liquefied gas. The total cost of the project is almost 1.7 billion US dollars. The Japanese Bank for international cooperation (JBIC) takes part in its financing.

With the commissioning of the enterprise, planned for the current 2019 year, about 800 additional jobs will be created. According to the Director of the plant, his staff has passed a special training course and is fully ready for commissioning.

For the first time in the world practice, the constructed HCK will be used in industrial volumes of "distillation" of natural gas into liquid fuel. The GTG – Gas to gasoline project is based on TIGAS™ technology developed by the Danish company Haldor Torsoe, which allows, in combination with high-performance catalysts, to produce high-quality gasoline with minimal energy consumption and environmental impact.

As the representative of the company "Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd." Kei Noumura noted: "During the conversation with the President of Turkmenistan, the technology of gasoline production from natural gas has been successfully tested on a pilot plant in the laboratory. And now for the first time in the world GTG technology is implemented in Turkmenistan on a commercial scale".

The plant has already conducted test tests of water purification systems, steam and electricity production. These installations are already operated by engineers of the state Concern "Turkmengas". At present, a thorough preparation for the test works on the gasoline production unit is being carried out.

Representative "Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd."on behalf of the management of his company, he assured the President that all works at the plant will be performed with high quality.

The head of the state noted that the implementation of this large-scale project with the participation of "Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd." will be an important step in increasing the capacity of the oil and gas industry of the country. In this regard, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further expand partnership with leading representatives of Japanese business.
