Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union Marosh Shefchovich plans to visit Baku in February this year, where he will take part in the Meeting of the Advisory Council of the southern gas corridor (SGC). This is reported by the Azerbaijani News agency Report.
The Southern gas corridor is designed to transport natural gas from the Caspian region through Georgia and Turkey to southern Europe.
At the first stage, Azerbaijani gas from Shah Deniz field will be supplied through SGC. The beginning of deliveries is scheduled for 2020.
In the future, it is planned to connect gas from other sources, including Turkmenistan, to the SGC. The European Union and Turkey are in favor of attracting resources from Turkmenistan's gas fields to European countries via the southern gas corridor.
