As part of the Central Asian tour, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan from 3 to 6 February. This was reported at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, TASS reports.
Sergey Lavrov will visit Ashgabat on February 5-6, after talks in Bishkek and Dushanbe. In the Turkmen capital, the Russian Minister will meet with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as have talks with Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
"The parties will consider the main issues of the bilateral agenda, a number of international and regional problems that affect the interests of the Caspian region," – M. Zakharova said at the briefing. According to her, the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Russia will pay special attention to the priorities of Ashgabat's chairmanship in the CIS this year.
As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized earlier, the Russian Federation is a strategic partner of Turkmenistan. Turkmen-Russian relations are successfully developing in the international political arena, in the economic, scientific, educational and cultural spheres.
