In Turkmenistan, GDP growth in January-February amounted to 6.2 percent

Macroeconomic indicators for January-February 2019 demonstrate steady dynamics in all sectors of the national economy of Turkmenistan. The two-month GDP growth rate stands at 6.2 percent. This was reported at a government meeting last Thursday, at which the results of the socio-economic development of our country for two months of the current year were discussed.

In general, production in all ministries and sectoral agencies increased by 5.9 percent compared to the same period last year. Almost all industries achieved high production performance. During this period, growth in agriculture amounted to 3.1 percent, trade - 10.7 percent, transport and communications industry - 10 percent, in the services sector - 8.2 percent.

Compared to the same period last year, exports increased by 20 percent.

Currently, the country has launched large-scale construction of various facilities with a total cost of over 35 billion US dollars. Most of them are new buildings for social purposes.
