Prospects for cooperation in cross-border cooperation were discussed at a meeting in the city of Nur-Sultan by the chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva with the ambassador of Turkmenistan Toyly Komekov, reports INA “Kazinform” citing the press service of the upper house of parliament.
The head of the Senate drew attention to the proposals of the Mangystau region in 13 areas, which were submitted to the Turkmen side for consideration. Projects for the construction of the Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan highway and a new bridge across the Garabogazgol bay will contribute to an increase in turnover, cargo and passenger traffic.
The interlocutors confirmed their readiness to contribute to the realization of the ambitious task of reaching the billion-dollar mark in mutual trade. According to Nazarbayeva, an effective mechanism for the implementation of the tasks to increase bilateral trade should be a joint intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan conveyed to D.Nazarbayeva an invitation to visit Ashgabat on an official visit, and also to take part in the 1st Caspian economic forum in Avaza.
T. Komekov highly appreciated the contribution of Nursultan Nazarbayev to global and regional security, emphasizing his leadership in the anti-nuclear movement and the advancement of integration processes. He informed that Turkmenistan positively perceived the renaming of the capital of Kazakhstan to Nur-Sultan, thereby perpetuating Nazarbayev’s invaluable merits.
