Last Sunday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the President of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, as well as with the heads of KAMAZ PJSC, Tatneft PJSC and UK KER-Holding LLC, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the celebrations holiday Turkmen horse.
During the meeting, held in a confidential atmosphere and businesslike manner, an exchange of views on the priorities of cooperation took place. As was emphasized, Turkmenistan and Tatarstan successfully interact in various fields. In this aspect, a long-term partnership with the automotive giant KamAZ, PJSC Tatneft, PJSC Kazan Helicopter Plant and others is noted.
The meeting participants also discussed the possibility of diversifying cooperation. In this regard, the broad prospects were highlighted, taking into account the innovative development strategy implemented in Turkmenistan, which includes digitization of the economy, increasing production volumes of import-substituting and export-oriented products, creating high-tech industries. The partnership in the fields of mechanical engineering and energy, the oil refining and gas chemical industries seems promising.
The guests confirmed their interest in expanding business ties and readiness to tap the potential of special economic zones created in Tatarstan, industrial and technology parks, engineering and research centers, achievements in the field of IT and nanotechnology.
Among the priority vectors were identified transport, fuel and energy, trade and economic sphere, agriculture, as well as the interaction of business structures. Cooperation in the cultural, scientific and educational fields, in the field of sports and tourism is seen as promising.
Confirming the readiness of the parties to build up multi-faceted interaction, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan noted the significant role of the Joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.
As previously reported, in 2019, Tatneft resumed work to increase oil recovery and repair of wells in the Goturdepe field in western Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan is also one of the largest and stable sales markets for KAMAZ PJSC products. Over the past ten years, more than 9,000 units of trucks and special equipment of this plant have been supplied to the Turkmen market.
