A delegation of Turkmenistan led by Vice-Chairman and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in the International Economic Forum. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen delegation will take part in the plenary session of the forum, as well as hold a number of bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation of Turkmenistan with other states and international organizations.
Speaking at a recent meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Ashgabat, the President of Turkmenistan noted the need to develop cooperation in the field of innovations and high technologies, and also stressed the relevance of the participation of the Commonwealth states in the implementation of multilateral projects in the energy sector, primarily aimed at long-term energy supplies in the regions adjacent to the CIS in the east and south directions - China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India.
At a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, held within the framework of the Council of CIS Heads of Government, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia is strategic and is developing dynamically. Thus, a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held recently in Ashgabat, in which the main focus was on prospects for further strengthening trade and economic partnership.
In turn, Dmitry Medvedev said that today economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation is developing along an ascending line. At the same time, the head of the RF Government noted that a number of joint projects are being implemented, including bilateral projects, and projects that are of interregional and international importance.
Noting the important interregional importance of the upcoming First Caspian Economic Forum, which will be held in Turkmenistan this August, Dmitry Medvedev said that representatives of Russia would take part in it.
