President of Turkmenistan discusses priority regional projects with new Ambassador of Afghanistan

The newly appointed Ambassador of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, Najibullah Alikhil, presented his credentials to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The head of state and the diplomat exchanged views on priority areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic sphere. At the same time, special attention was paid to the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, as well as important joint infrastructure projects.

In this context, the importance was emphasized of the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and related projects - the laying of power lines and fiber-optic links along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.

During the meeting, it was also emphasized that the initiatives of Ashgabat to form multimodal transit and transport corridors open up enormous prospects for optimizing traffic flows throughout the Eurasian space.

The diplomat expressed gratitude to the head of state for the support provided by Turkmenistan in the peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan. For many years, Turkmenistan has supplied its southern neighbor with electricity on favorable terms, regularly sends humanitarian supplies, erects social facilities on the territory of Afghanistan, and Afghan youth undergo training at Turkmen universities.
