Ashgabat and Tehran have discussed partnership in power and the Caspian perspective

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Iran during the political consultations which have taken place in Ashgabat have paid attention to questions of the Caspian perspective and cooperation in power, that is reported on the website of Foreign Ministry of the country.

The delegation of Iran has been headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif.

"Noting similarity of positions on providing the world, safety and sustainable development in the region and the world in general, the parties have expressed commitment to further development of regional and international cooperation", - is told in the message.

In this context both parties have also paid attention to questions of rendering assistance to Afghanistan. During negotiations the main attention of the parties has been paid to questions of further development of cooperation in power industry, oil and gas branch and transport.

Turkmenistan and Iran for years of long-term cooperation have realized a number of large economic projects. Among the most important are gas pipelines Korpedzhe-Curt-Kui and Dovletabat-Serakhs-Hangeran.

Iran also has been buying the electric power in Turkmenistan. Two states have constructed a boundary dam Dostluk (Friendship) and have finished the railway North-South project - on the basis of the tripartite agreement with participation of Turkmenistan, Iran and Kazakhstan signed in 2007.

Two countries have paid the main attention to questions of energization of joint activity in the transport and transit sphere, in the field of construction of roads, and also in sector of power industry and gas.
