The volume of reserves of the new oil field in Bahrain is about 80 billion barrels. This was announced by oil Minister Mohammed bin Khalifa al-Khalifa.
Bahrain's high Committee on natural resources and economic security announced on 1 April that it had discovered the largest oil and natural gas field off the West coast of the Kingdom since the start of oil production in 1932.
"Oil reserves in the new field are about 80 billion barrels, natural gas - from 10 trillion to 20 trillion cubic feet. The area of the new field - 2 thousand square kilometers", - quotes the Minister "Prime".
Al-Khalifa hopes that oil production at the field will begin within five years.
Bahrain was the first among the countries of the Persian Gulf, where oil production began, so the hydrocarbon reserves in this country have become much worse.
