JSC "RN-CII" (part of the scientific project of Rosneft) has started production of the commercial batches of polymer proppant. The use of this material will increase the coefficient of oil recovery by several times, according to the Russian Agency OGIA.
The first batch will be produced in the volume of 8 tons and delivered for the tests at the Samotlor field. In total, it is planned to produce about 100 tons of proppant.
"Through the new polymer proppant oil is filtered 15 to 20 times better than its global peers," - said the head of "RN-CII" Konstantin Rudyak.
The material is more resistant to stress, not deformed and, therefore, does not interfere with the movement of oil, as the press service of Rosneft notes.
Specialists of "RN-CII" also do not exclude the possibility of pumping innovative material into the layer without gel, using ordinary water for this purpose. This will provide a higher permeability of proppant into the smallest cavities, as well as significantly reduce the labor intensity, time and cost of the process.
