The first gas from the Absheron field is planned to be produced in the third quarter of 2020. This was stated by the representative of the French company Total, which is the operator of the field development, Trend reports.
"Work within the first phase of development of the Absheron field continues. Drilling of the first appraisal well began in February this year and is planned to be completed by mid-2019. Detailed engineering began in August. The first gas from the field is planned to be obtained in the third quarter of 2020," the company said.
In General, as noted in Total, the first phase is based on the so-called "early production scheme".
"The appraisal well is connected with Oil rocks through a 35-kilometer underwater line. A platform will be built on The oil stones, which will receive effluents from Absheron, make their pre-treatment, after which they will be sent to existing enterprises. As for the second phase, the scheme of its development has already been defined, but it is necessary to focus on the data that will be obtained during the drilling of the first exploration well", - quotes the representative of the Trend company.
Total also reported that negotiations with the Azerbaijani state company SOCAR on the Umid-Babek field are currently underway.
In 2016, SOCAR and Total signed a framework agreement on the main contractual and commercial principles governing the first phase of development of the Absheron field.
At the first stage, the development of the field includes drilling one well at a depth of 450 meters. As part of the first stage of development, Absheron plans to produce about 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas and 700 thousand tons of condensate. At the second stage, it is planned to produce up to four billion cubic meters of gas per year.
According to Total experts, the reserves of the Absheron field amount to 326 billion cubic meters of gas and 108 million tons of condensate.
