The construction of the Turkish Flow gas pipeline in the European territory depends on the political choice of the EU, the president of the Turkish international research center Strategic Outlook Yusuf Chinar told to the Azerbaijani news agency Trend on Wednesday.
According to him, Europe needs continuous deliveries of power and does not wish delays in deliveries. "After crisis in Ukraine it became clear that the political decision can influence energy policy of the EU. Europe wanted continuation of power Russian gas supplies through Ukraine therefore there were bureaucratic barriers for the South Stream project", - he told.
The expert considers that the EU does not really wish implementation of "The Turkish flow", but, the Union has not so many alternatives. "If the foreign policy and the energy strategy of the EU will not cross each other, the political situation in Ukraine will change, then the power companies of the EU will be able to participate in a construction of "The Turkish flow, but if the EU is against this project, then "The Turkish flow" risks to face bureaucratic barriers as well as South Stream - told Chinar.
Trend reminds that Russia suspended project implementation South Stream, intended for Russian gas supplies to Europe bypassing Ukraine, in December, 2014. As the reason not constructive position of the European Union was called. Instead of that it was decided to build "The Turkish flow".
The Russian Federation and Turkey signed on October 10 the intergovernmental agreement on project implementation "The Turkish flow". The agreement assumes a construction of two branches of a trunk gas pipeline under the Black Sea, capacity of each branch 15,75 billion cubic meters of gas. One branch is provided for gas supply directly to the Turkish market, another - for gas supply by en route through the territory of Turkey to the European countries. In the intergovernmental agreement the term to which these two sea branches shall be constructed is also determined, it has to be the December, 2019.
