The Azerbaijani state company SOCAR purchased seven tankers at the Palmali company, they will be engaged in transportation of goods in basins of the Mediterranean and Caspian seas, the head of SOCAR Trading Arzu Azimov reported Reuters agency, Azerbaijani news agency Trend tells.
According to Azimov, the deal was made last month. Within the bargain SOCAR will receive two tankers of the class Suezmax (each of capacity of 140 thousand tons) and four tankers of the class Aframax (each of capacity 80 thousand tons).
The agency notes that new tankers are much larger than 30 available tankers of SOCAR which capacity varies from 5 to 15 thousand tons.
SOCAR Trading with the headquarters in Geneva was created at the end of 2007 by State oil company of Azerbaijan. The company sells the main part of export volumes of crude oil from the port Ceyhan (The Mediterranean Sea, Turkey), performs trading of oil and oil products of other countries, and also renders assistance to mother company in connection with the international investments.
