"Iran passes to complete self-sufficiency with gasoline", the
president of the country Hassan Rouhani reported, Trend with
reference to the Iranian agency Shana writes.
The president reminded that Iran for many years was an importer
of gasoline, but now production of domestic gasoline reached
On April 30 in Iran the first phase of "The Star of the Persian Gulf"
oil refinery within which 12 million liters of gasoline a day would
be produced was started.
In the last financial year (which ended on March 20) consumption
of gasoline in Iran constituted 74,2 million liters a day, that is 5,1
percent more, than in previous year. Import of gasoline reached
12 million liters of gasoline a day that on 2,2 million liters of
gasoline a day is more, than in previous year.
Now oil processing capacities of Iran make 1,8 million barrels a
day. However in the next years Iran plans to finish a construction
of four oil refineries with general capacity 1,29 million barrels a
"The Star of Persian Gulf" Oil Refinery will add to the existing
capacities 360 thousand barrels a day, the Siraf complex – 480
thousand barrels a day, Anakhita Oil Refinery - 150 thousand
barrels a day, Bahman Geno Oil Refinery – 300 thousand barrels
a day. As a result Iran plans to begin export of gasoline in the
next years and to increase gasoil export.
Iran began to export gasoil in 2015. It also increased export of
fuel oil in connection with reducing use of oil products in power
industry because of growth of supply of gas by power plants.
Within last financial year Iran exported 450 thousand barrels of
fuel oil, gasoil and the liquefied oil gas.
