GTS operators of Ukraine and Poland - JSC "Ukrtransgaz" and "GAZ-SYSTEM S.A." - increase technical capacity of a gas-transport system in the Poland-Ukraine direction, the press service of "Ukrtransgaz" reports.
After carrying out a number of technical actions "Ukrtransgaz" and "GAZ-SYSTEM S.A." agreed to increase handling capacity of a gas pipe in the direction of Ukraine, since September 1, 2017. Operators approved such indicators of general capacity in Germanovich connection point:
- During the period from September 1 to April 30: 6 million cubic meters a day (250 thousand CBM an hour);
- During the period from May 1 to August 31: 4 million cubic meters a day (167 thousand CBM an hour).
The specified changes will allow to increase almost by 1,5 times supply of natural gas in the Polish direction during the autumn and winter period, when these capacities are used most actively, the press service of "Ukrtransgaz" reports.
As a result handling capacity of a gas transmission route Poland-Ukraine in the point Germanovich will increase by 0,5 billion cubic meters a year and will allow to import from Poland gas in amount to 2 billion cubic meters a year. Free handling capacity will be offered at auctions.
In total for 2016 through Germanovich connection point 968 million cubic meters were imported to Ukraine, and only a third part from these amounts (323 million cubic meters) was imported in the first half-year of 2016. At the same time, in the first half-year of 2017 supply of natural gas to Ukraine from Poland constituted 577 million cubic meters that almost for 80% exceeds a last year's indicator.
Increase in capacity of point of entry in the Ukrainian GTS from Poland will also allow to increase diversification of routes of supply of natural gas, and will give additional opportunities for a covering of peak demand determinants on natural gas consumers of Ukraine in the winter.
