The project of the gas pipeline from Iran to Pakistan is performed with a big delay, but, finally, it will be realized. It was said in Tehran by the Oil Minister of Iran Bizhan Namdar Zanganeh, Iran.ru reports.
"In general, I think that the Iranian gas finally will be exported to Pakistan, but, considering the experience accumulated for these years I think that the solution of this problem requires involvement of the third party in addition to Iran and Pakistan", - Iran.ru quotes the minister.
He added that the third company shall build the Pakistani section of the pipeline of IP (Iran-Pakistan) and facilitate concern about payments. The minister told that a number of the international oil and gas companies showed interest in the project, but any firm for implementation of this plan has not been chosen yet.
The gas project faced numerous delays as in the 1990s it was conceived to connect the huge gas field of "Southern Pars" with Pakistan which suffers from the shortage of gas. Iran finished its part of the pipeline and waits when Pakistan will do the same, Iran.ru notes.
"Pakistanis say that they have no money for a pipeline construction in the territory, and there are concerns that if the pipeline even is constructed, and gas is exported, they, perhaps, will not be able to pay for this gas", - Zanganeh noted.
