SOCAR Trading (trading house of the Azerbaijani state company SOCAR) conducts negotiations on supply of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Pakistan, Trend with reference to a source in the oil and gas market reports.
According to it, SOCAR Trading successfully realized the project with LNG on Malta, builds the LNG terminal in Côte d'Ivoire and intends to move in the new directions.
"Active negotiations are conducted with Pakistan now. On February 28, 2017 between Pakistan and Azerbaijan the intergovernmental agreement about a cooperation in the sphere of power which directly includes LNG supply was signed. Since then negotiations with the relevant structures in Pakistan are conducted. Work goes, the parties discuss conditions of deliveries, the price, amounts", - the source familiar with a situation told.
He added that the company has also other plans for the LNG projects. "The company intends to increase a portfolio on LNG that it was in the future easier to compete in this market", - the interlocutor of the agency told.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan in February signed the agreement on cooperation in the field of oil supply and gas. Now Pakistan imports about 4,5 million tons of LNG a year.
