The priority directions of bilateral interaction were discussed the day before at a meeting of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Secretary of State – the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin who arrived in Ashgabat.
The guest gave to the head of the state the warm words of a greeting from the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev addressing the best regards to the Turkmen people. At the same time invariable interest of the Russian side in further strengthening and expansion of traditionally friendly interstate dialogue on all its range was confirmed.
Having transferred response greetings to the top management of Russia, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized strategic nature of the Turkmen-Russian partnership answering to the purposes of wellbeing of the people of two countries. As the President noted, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation were connected by the long-term effective cooperation having solid potential and built on an equal, long-term basis.
Having stated forward dynamics of the interstate relations, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest exchanged opinions on the priority directions of bilateral interaction in the context of implementation of the agreements reached top-level following the results of a recent official visit to Turkmenistan of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
As it was noted, following the results of the Ashgabat meeting the large packet of documents which was even more strengthened a cooperation regulatory framework was at the highest levels signed. Along with trade and economic relations, a new boost was received by traditional contacts in the humanitarian and cultural sphere, including in the area of science and education. Fruitful interaction in this area always played an important role and nowadays serves as the strong bridge of friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the people of two countries.
On meetings the high level of interstate political diplomatic relations was also underlined. On a system, regular basis bilateral interforeign Ministry consultations were held. In a format of the international organizations – the UN, OSCE, to the CIS and others Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation showed similarity or coincidence of line items on the topical issues of the regional and global agenda, first of all, concerning ensuring the universal peace, safety and sustainable development, counteraction to challenges and threats of the present.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Grigory Karasin confirmed mutual aiming of the parties at activization and deepening of partnership, a conclusion of productive interaction to qualitatively new boundaries. In this connection also the prospects of a cooperation between Turkmenistan and the largest territorial subjects of the Russian Federation where for last years wide positive experience of joint operation has been acquired were noted.
The Russian Ambassador in Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin also participated in the meeting.
As earlier it was reported, following the results of the visit to Ashgabat of the Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 3, 2017 and top-level talks the Contract on strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation and also a number of intergovernmental and interservice agreements was signed.
