President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae In stated his intention to continue cooperation with Turkmenistan and implement projects in the FEC, speaking to journalists at the end of talks with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat on April 17.
- Last year, the construction of the largest gas chemical complex in Kiyanly of the Balkan region was completed and this confirms that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea are effective partners, - said the high guest, expressing the hope that Korean companies will actively participate in the projects promoted by the government of Turkmenistan in the FEC.
- Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that cooperation with Korean companies will be important. This is a great help for us. Actively using the existing potential, we will continue to cooperate and implement projects that will become the second, third Kiyanly, - said Moon Jae In.
He also noted: "the Parties agreed to join efforts in training in the FEC industry and with the support of the Korean association of factories and the Korean institute of industrial technology. Our countries will train highly qualified engineers, exchange information, thus increasing economic competitiveness."
The topic of development of cooperation in the FEC is fixed in the Joint statement of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, which was signed by Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Moon Jae In after the Ashgabat summit talks.
Thus, the Joint statement reads: "the Parties expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in the field of energy production and in expanding cooperation in various fields, such as petrochemicals... the Parties highly appreciated the successful completion last year of the construction of the gas chemical complex in Kiyanly and were unanimous in the opinion that the participation and investment of Korean companies in the production of high value added products in the energy sector will contribute to the further development of mutual cooperation between the countries”.
It should be noted that the kiyanli Gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene from natural gas was commissioned on October 17, 2018. GCC is designed for annual processing of 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas and production of 381 thousand tons of high-density polyethylene, 81 thousand tons of polypropylene.
Construction of the GCC was carried out since 2013 under the contract of the state Concern "Turkmengas" with the consortium of companies "Hyundai Engineering Go.Ltd", "LG International Corp." (Republic of Korea) and "Toyo Engineering Corp." (Japan) worth more than 3.4 billion U.S. dollars.
Production of polyethylene and polypropylene at the enterprise is carried out on the basis of modern technologies, a distinctive feature of which is the deep purification of raw materials from impurities. As a result, the company produces environmentally friendly products that meet international standards.
