Transit of oil products from Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan and Georgia will be carried out at new tariffs. Georgian and Azerbaijani railway companies have signed an Agreement on seasonal transit transportation of oil products from Turkmenistan at reduced tariffs, the press service of Georgian railway JSC reported.
It is reported that the participants of the negotiations unanimously resolved the issue of a single tariff for the transportation of Turkmen oil and oil products. Seasonal transportation of petroleum products covers the period from April 1 to November 1.
Turkmenistan transported about 200 thousand tons of oil and oil products through Georgia from 2007 to 2008. However, due to the unstable situation in Georgia, the route has changed: through Makhachkala to Novorossiysk, the source said.
In 2015, after successful negotiations, Turkmen oil products were again exported to Europe via Georgia. At this stage, there is an agreement to transport 1.5 million tons of oil annually from Turkmenistan.
