Bulgaria begins construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline with Russian participation. This was reported on September 18 by TASS with reference to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov.
According to the prime minister, a state-owned company from Saudi Arabia became the executor of the project. “90% of the pipes for the Balkan Stream have already been delivered to Bulgaria from Russia, and tomorrow we will begin to deliver them along the highway, funding has been provided, 308 km of the pipeline will be built before the end of January 2020,” – Borisov said at a briefing following talks with Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
According to the Russian minister, the Russian Federation accepted all the conditions of Bulgaria, supplies pipes and participates in the project “with its own products”.
The Turkish Stream project involves the construction of two pipelines from Russia through the Black Sea to Turkey. The capacity of each will be about 15.75 billion cubic meters. m per year. The first line is intended for gas supplies to Turkish consumers, and the second - to the countries of Southern and Southeast Europe, in particular through Bulgaria to Serbia and Hungary.
