In 2019, Kazakhstan increased gas exports to China to 7.5 billion cubic meters from last year's 5.8 billion cubic meters, INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN reported with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic.
"In 2019, the total volume of gas exports grew to 19.5 billion cubic meters, including to China to 7.5 billion cubic meters," the Ministry of Energy said in a press release distributed on Wednesday.
In 2018, the export of Kazakhstani gas amounted to 19 billion cubic meters, of which 5.8 billion cubic meters to China.
Earlier, KazTransGas JSC signed a five-year contract with PetroChina International Company Limited to increase the export of Kazakhstani gas to 10 billion cubic meters per year from 2019. According to preliminary estimates by the company, an increase in gas exports to China to 10 billion cubic meters will bring Kazakhstan more than $ 2 billion.
Kazakhstan began exporting its gas to China in October 2017. At the end of 2017, 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas was exported to China.
