Turkmenistan will hold a number of events in 2024 to deepen cooperation with the EU

A number of constructive proposals for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union are planned to be organized this year.  This was announced during a government meeting held on Saturday, March 23.

These initiatives were announced at a government meeting by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Rashid Meredov.

As reported, these proposals were the result of working visits of the delegation of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Italian Republic, undertaken on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan on March 17-21, during which meetings and negotiations took place with a number of government and commercial structures aimed at developing multifaceted cooperation with European Union countries.

In particular, a meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asia and the European Union is planned to be held in Ashgabat in October 2024.  Regular visits to Turkmenistan by EU representatives will be organized throughout the year.  It is also planned to prepare a draft Framework Agreement between Turkmenistan and the EU in the field of energy and create a Turkmen-European group to increase cooperation in this direction.  In order to develop a broad transport partnership between our country and the EU, it is proposed to study the issue of forming a Coordination Platform in the European Union – Central Asia format.

Meetings of representatives of the parliaments of Turkmenistan and the EU, preparation of new educational programs in the field of personnel training, and other events are also planned.

Having approved the proposals presented, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the negotiations held in Brussels and Rome would further deepen the dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
