The delegation of Turkmenistan discussed the promotion of hydrogen energy in UNECE member countries in Geneva

Turkmenistan was represented at the global methane conference held on March 18-21 in Geneva (Switzerland).  The country's delegation included representatives of a number of ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, as well as the State Concern «Turkmengas», according to the official press.

The forum was jointly organized by the Global Methane Initiative and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in partnership with the Global Methane Center, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition and other international structures.

The Turkmen delegation took part in regional meetings.  As part of the event, the annual meeting of the gas expert group was held at the site of the Committee on Sustainable Energy to discuss the promotion of hydrogen energy in UNECE member countries.

Particular attention was paid to discussing the role of natural gas in creating sustainable energy systems, including in the context of ensuring the industrial development of states and regions, and achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals.

As is known, Turkmenistan officially announced its accession to the Global Methane Commitment at the COP-28 climate conference.  To promote relevant activities in the field of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including methane, the country has an intersectoral commission.
