On Wednesday, April 17, with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a solemn ceremony of commissioning the Tejen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway took place.

The construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway, 600 kilometers long, started on January 24, 2019.  Work on its construction is carried out in three stages – Ashgabat-Tedzhen (203 kilometers), Tejen-Mary (109 kilometers) and Mary-Turkmenabat (288 kilometers).

The first section of the high-speed highway – Ashgabat-Tejen was put into operation with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag in October 2021.

The new infrastructure structure was awarded certificates: the quality of the highway meets the ISO 9001 standard, as well as confirming the compliance of the design and construction work with international standards.  Also, the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway was awarded certificates confirming the high safety of the route and the use of innovative high technologies in its construction.

By order of the general contractor of the project, Türkmen Awtoban CJSC, the work on the construction of the route with the improvement of the adjacent territory was carried out by the Altyn Nesil Economic Society.

The autobahn consists of six lanes.  The route is equipped to the highest standards, along which there are parking lots and rest areas for drivers and passengers, shops and cafes, a gas station and other facilities.  The road infrastructure includes several traffic police posts equipped with surveillance cameras, maintenance points, and road service departments.

Along the road there are special telephone points connected to the control center for urgent calls and assistance.

This is one of the largest transport projects in our country.  Its implementation will give automobile transit cargo flows quick access to an extensive highway system extending to the Asia-Pacific region.

Thus, a new high-speed transport artery will appear in Turkmenistan, which will make it possible to transport goods over long distances faster and cheaper.  In this context, it should be noted the constructive nature of the initiatives of Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, aimed at optimizing mutually beneficial partnership in the transport and communications sector.
