On September 16, during his state visit to Seoul, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in the inaugural Central Asia – Republic of Korea Summit, an event marking a significant milestone in the history of multilateral cooperation, TDH reports.
The Summit was also attended by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung.
The agenda of the meeting covered a wide range of issues aimed at elevating cooperation within this format to the level of a long-term strategic partnership. Key topics for discussion included the diversification of transport and logistics corridors across the Eurasian region, the ensuring of energy stability, the expansion of industrial cooperation, the exchange of high technologies and the implementation of joint environmental measures.
Turkmenistan plays a pivotal role in the Central Asia – Republic of Korea dialogue, serving as a key economic and energy hub in the region and a proven reliable partner.
In his speech, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov outlined priorities for joint activities within the Central Asia – Republic of Korea framework, among which Turkmenistan highlights urban development and infrastructure, specifically the creation of modern urban environments that meet the latest standards and trends.
The President of Turkmenistan also identified industry, agriculture, environment protection, water resource management, health care, the service sector and tourism as important areas for cooperation.
Summit participants discussed issues regarding the processing of raw materials using Korean technologies, the joint development of natural resource deposits, the establishment of industrial facilities and transport corridors, the creation of logistics routes, providing the countries of the region with access to global markets, and the implementation of joint projects in artificial intelligence, the digitalisation of public services, the adoption of green technologies and climate change adaptation.
Following the Summit, the Seoul Declaration of the first Central Asia – Republic of Korea Summit was adopted.
