“Gazprom” in 2020 increased the purchase of natural gas in Turkmenistan

For 9 months of 2020, “Gazprom” has increased purchases of natural gas in Turkmenistan to 3.2 billion cubic meters, compared to 2.6 billion cubic meters in the same period in 2019. This is evidenced by the data from the memorandum of the concern's Eurobonds, Interfax reports.

It is also noted that over the three quarters of 2020, “Gazprom” reduced gas smoking in Kazakhstan to 5.1 billion cubic meters from 8.2 billion cubic meters in the same period in 2019.

Since early 2020, “Gazprom” has hardly bought any natural gas from Uzbekistan. For 6 months of 2020, the company reported zero imports from Uzbekistan, and for 9 months of 2020, it received 20 million cubic meters of Uzbek fuel. Meanwhile, in 2019, “Gazprom” bought 7.6 billion cubic meters of gas in Uzbekistan.

Earlier, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to reduce gas exports and direct them, first of all, to meet the needs of the population. In the summer of 2020, Mirziyoyev reported that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Uzbekistan stopped exporting gas to Russia, and reduced it three times to China.
