Turkmenistan intensifies cooperation with Japanese companies

On Thursday, January 28, a online-meeting with the President of the Japanese company «Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd» Mr. T. Watanabe was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.  The meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, SC «Turkmengas», as well as the State Bank for Non-Economic Activity of Turkmenistan.

 During the conversation, the parties discussed the positive experience of bilateral cooperation, and also outlined new priorities for its further intensification.

 Turkmenistan has already implemented large-scale projects with the participation of the Japanese side and intends to actively continue mutually beneficial partnership in the future.

 In particular, a complex for the production of environmentally friendly synthetic gasoline from natural gas was put into operation on June 28, 2019 in the Akhal region of Turkmenistan.  Representatives of the Turkmen side highly appreciated the active participation of the Japanese side in the construction of this plant and in ensuring its smooth operation.  In turn, the Japanese side thanked the government of Turkmenistan for its confidence in participating in the construction of this large industrial facility.

 During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues of joint investments in this project through cooperation with leading world financial institutions, including the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan, India and Pakistan discussed the progress of the TAPI project

The implementation of the project for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline was discussed on Monday in a telephone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and his counterparts from India Subramanyam Jaishankar and Pakistan Shah Mahmud Qureishi, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
