The President of Turkmenistan discusses with the President of the EBRD the implementation of projects in energy, transport and other spheres

On July 28, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso, who had come to Ashgabat on a visit, TDH reports.
The guest emphasized that under the leadership of its head of state, Turkmenistan has demonstrated rapid development. Praising the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country and aimed at diversifying the national economy, Odile Renaud-Basso confirmed the EBRD’s interest in expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Noting that effective cooperation has been established with the EBRD in trade, economic, financial and banking spheres, President Berdimuhamedov identified energy, transport, the digital economy and environment protection as key areas of cooperation.
As noted, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to expanding cooperation in the energy sector through diversification. The country is making comprehensive efforts to develop clean, green energy. In this regard, the President noted the wide opportunities for the EBRD’s participation in projects and new initiatives currently underway in the country.
Focusing on the transport and logistics sector, the President emphasized the important work being carried out to form the North–South and East–West multimodal international transport corridors.
The President also noted Turkmenistan’s readiness to advance cooperation with the EBRD in developing the agricultural sector and the rational use of water resources.
Noting that during Odile Renaud-Basso’s visit to Ashgabat, negotiations will be held on banking, finance, energy, environment protection, the rational use of water resources and Turkmenistan’s transport and logistics system, the President expressed confidence that these talks will give an impetus to the partnership with the EBRD and lead it to a qualitatively new level.
In this context, the President emphasized Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation with the EBRD.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the successful continuation of the bilateral cooperation.
