The President of Turkmenistan arrived in Tashkent to participate in the ECO meeting

 President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Tashkent on Thursday on a working visit to participate in the 16th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), TDH reports today.

 In Tashkent, at the Islam Karimov International Airport, the head of the Turkmen state was met by officials of Uzbekistan and members of the government delegation of Turkmenistan.

 It is noted that during the working visit, the President of Turkmenistan will meet with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and will also speak at the 16th meeting of the ECO, voicing Ashgabat’s vision for the development of effective economic interaction in the Organization’s space.

 Currently, Turkmenistan chairs the ECO.  The previous, 15th Summit of the Organization was held in Ashgabat on November 28, 2021.  During the period of chairmanship, a corresponding Concept was developed, aimed at enhancing mutually beneficial partnership in the ECO space in the trade, economic, investment, transport, logistics, energy spheres, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian field.  As a result of the 15th ECO Summit, the Final Document was adopted – the Ashgabat Consensus for Action.

 It is also reported that a meeting has already taken place between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.  The parties discussed the development of mutually beneficial Turkmen-Uzbek partnership in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

 The heads of neighboring states paid special attention to expanding economic interaction in the ECO space.

 The parties also exchanged views on issues of the international and regional agenda of mutual interest.
