The eleventh round of annual bilateral political consultations between Turkmenistan and the United States was held in Washington, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on its website on August 21.
The Turkmen side at the consultations was headed by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, and the American side was headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs John Mark Pommersheim.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-American relations, and exchanged views on pressing issues on the international agenda.
The interlocutors confirmed their commitment to the development of relations between Turkmenistan and the United States, including cooperation in the field of security, expansion of trade and economic ties, as well as intensification of partnership within the framework of the regional diplomatic platform "C5+1".
The issues of facilitating the implementation of bilateral projects with key American companies were also discussed, and prospects for expanding investment opportunities in Turkmenistan were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized that regular bilateral consultations have proven themselves to be an effective mechanism for the further development of Turkmen-American cooperation.
