The Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to the country, TDH reports.
The invitation was made during a meeting between Ilham Aliyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Azerbaijan on October 7 to participate in the 12th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States.
"Confirming Turkmenistan's commitment to close cooperation with Azerbaijan in all areas, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took the opportunity to invite the head of the neighboring state to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at his convenience," TDH reports.
As noted during the meeting, trade and economic cooperation are among the priority areas of bilateral partnership. Noting the productivity of mutual trade, the parties emphasized the need to more actively utilize the existing potential. In this regard, the important role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation was emphasized.
The parties discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, the textile industry, and new technologies.
It was also noted that cultural and humanitarian cooperation holds a special place in interstate relations. Turkmenistan Culture Days are planned for this year in the Azerbaijani cities of Baku and Ganja, and Turkmenistan is prepared to host this event at a high level.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Ilham Aliyev to participate in the International Forum on Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan's Permanent Neutrality, scheduled for December 12 in Ashgabat.
Grateful for the invitation, Aliyev emphasized that Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality makes a significant contribution to strengthening peace and stability in the region and enjoys broad support from the international community.
