The Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF-2026) opened on October 1 at the Ýyldyz Hotel in the capital. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the country, the event brought together high-ranking officials and experts from government agencies, international financial institutions, organizations and leading companies, TDH reports.
More than 700 representatives from Turkmenistan, Central Asian states, the USA, the UK, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Germany, China, France, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Türkiye, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Qatar and other countries are participating in the forum.
The forum began with a plenary session entitled “Investment Activity – A Key Condition for Dynamic and Sustainable Economic Development.” Participants heard a Congratulatory Address from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. As emphasized in the Address, Turkmenistan’s primary goal is to develop a model that combines effective financial and economic instruments with its own scientific, technological and intellectual potential. Therefore, special importance is attached to introducing high technologies and innovations across all sectors and increasing the volume of investment directed toward them.
As noted in statements by Turkmen representatives, under the leadership of the Head of State, the country is building a diversified economy, expanding industrial infrastructure and establishing modern processing plants and complexes based on advanced technologies. Construction continues on major industrial and social infrastructure facilities.
Forum participants explored Turkmenistan’s investment potential and forthcoming projects. It was highlighted that attracting foreign investment, focused on the adoption of advanced technologies and modern equipment and on human capital development, constitutes a strategic direction of the national investment strategy.
As representatives of foreign countries noted, major international projects, initiated by Turkmenistan, contribute to strengthening global peace and development. These include the Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan–Kazakhstan–China and Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipelines, a high-voltage power transmission line and a fiber-optic communication link along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan route, as well as various other investment projects. The country’s advantageous geographical position facilitates the utilization of all modes of transport in these projects and the achievement of significant practical results.
Heads of relevant government agencies from neighboring countries and the region also highlighted the steady growth of trade turnover with Turkmenistan. It was noted that the implementation of joint projects in the fuel and energy sector, as well as in transport, trade, agriculture and other areas, fosters the comprehensive development of the region.
Bilateral meetings also took place on the side-lines of the investment forum, during which promising areas for establishing mutually beneficial ties were identified.
The Turkmenistan Investment Forum will conclude on October 2.
